Calling All Ubuntu Linux Users And Administrators

It’s time to brag and make yourself known. Whether you’re running one Ubuntu desktop or managing hundreds of Ubuntu systems, we want to know about it. Please fill this quick online survey, called the Works With U 1,000.

Our goals for the survey are simple. We want to prove:

  • Ubuntu has a loyal and growing installed base on business/organizational desktops and servers
  • Ubuntu has global momentum on desktops and servers
  • Ubuntu has an ecosystem of integrators, solutions providers and VARs who can accelerate Ubuntu deployments
  • And ultimate, Ubuntu can be used for mission critical applications

Organizations that fill out the survey will land on our Works With U 1000 list (here’s a preview). And once we compile a complete list of 1,000 organizations running Ubuntu, we plan to publish a comprehensive — and free — report that shows readers how Ubuntu is gaining traction in specific vertical markets, in specific regions, etc.

Hey! You said all Linux users. I happen to run a web server, email, DNS, database, firewall, etc. on several servers, plus a collection of desktops and laptops for the whole family. But I can’t fill out your survey because I need a Company Name,

    No company, just us.

  3. Robert MacEwan Says:

Run it at work, at home on desktop box and with vmware on Apple MacBook Air. 3 dotted circle yo ;-)

    cheers,

I don’t think you should make the company fields on that survey required, it should be optional.

  5. Joe Panettieri Says:

@Reya: We welcome your feedback and certainly understand that removing the field requirements may drive far more survey responses. But our goal is to eliminate the mystery surrounding Ubuntu.

Analysts, skeptics, CIOs, IT decision makers and other experts need to see WHERE Ubuntu is running, so that they can begin to understand that it really is catching on within specific small, midsize and large organizations.

Right now, Ubuntu is considered a desktop toy by many skeptics. But the Works With U 1000 deployment list and survey eliminates that myth. It proves Ubuntu is a business solution.

I hope you understand our reasoning for requiring company names in the survey, even if you disagree with our decision to do so.

Thanks for reading Works With U.
