With the release of Hardy Heron only 5 days away, Canonical has announced the Hardy Heron 8.04 Long Term Release Candidate. Long term releases are releases that Canonical will support for three years on the desktop, and five years on servers.

After recently installing Ubuntu 8.04 Beta, I have seen numerous improvements that will bring welcome change to users in the near future. Now in beta stage, Ubuntu is stable enough for me or anyone else who is interesting in testing the new version.
